Friday 1st June 2007 - Kieran Halpin

Kieran Halpin

With his high-octane songs, rocket-fuelled guitar and dry wit, KIERAN is a great live performer and sings like he's living every song, with intelligent lyrics, strong melodies and subjects as diverse as the Berlin Wall and homesickness. A Ram Regular with a string of fine albums whose songs are regularly plundered by his peers (and some of us), he is about to disappear to Australia for 18 months, so don't miss him.

Friday 8th June 2007 - Paul Downes

Paul Downes

Once part of the glorious, rocking ARIZONA SMOKE REVIEW in the 80s (with PHIL BEER and the ZORN brothers), PAUL was a fixture for many years on the Folk scene in a highly successful duo with Phil. One of the nicest guys you'll meet, Paul is a dazzling maestro on many stringed things, with a repertoire that is out of the ordinary and an ability to turn hidden gems (some by himself) into standards. Always a treat.

Friday 15th June 2007 - John Kirkpatrick

John Kirkpatrick

A maestro of the button accordeon, melodeon and concertina, JOHN could squeeze a tune from a lemon if he had to! A champion of The English Style, John has been in so many collaborations with the likes of Richard Thompson, Steeleye Span, and the Albions that it's easy to forget he's a brilliant solo act too! When not busting his bellows for us mere mortals, he's putting in musical cameos on things like the Harry Potter films and theatrical productions. A great guy who typifies what the Folk scene is really about.

Friday 22nd June 2007 - Quicksilver

Quicksilver

.... are HILARY SPENCER (ex-'Artisan') and GRANT BAYNHAM (ex 'That's Life'). Hilary is a powerful singer with three and a half octaves at her disposal and has been-there-done-that the world over. Grant is a seriously good folk and jazz player, often as fast and furious as his patter. Since meeting in 2001 they have establish themselves as a top act, with a mad mix of everything from ballads to blues, comedy, jazz and Grant's amazing originals, thrown at you with manic energy and humour. The opposite of sad!

Friday 29th June 2007 - Allan Taylor

Allan Taylor

'The Traveller' returns! Like a fine wine, Allan just gets better with age. Subtle notes of North Winds and far away places mingle with extracts of smoky bars and juicy scandals ...heaps of characters and a robust nose for affairs of the heart, with a bitter-sweet aftertaste of the triumphs and tragedies of life... Complex yet direct, with loads of melody and mellowness and distinctive undertones of rosewood. A combination of maturity and life's experience with quality, taste and a superb finish. A classic vintage that positively sings!
