Friday 4th April 2014 - Tannahill Weavers

Tannahill Weavers

It is a great pleasure to welcome once again this legendary band back to our humble croft. Truly the Led Zeppelin of Folk, the TANNAHILLS have an unerring ability to switch seamlessly between beautiful, evocative slow airs, ballads and topical songs with rich vocal harmonies, to out-and-out hell-for-leather tune sets led by Highland pipes, fiddle, whistles & flute with a rock-solid rhythm underneath. One of the all time great Scottish bands, they have a pedigree as long as a caber and toss the whole caboodle of the Scots folk canon into a simmering pot of musical broth. Mists will swirl and babes won't sleep, but this lot are AWESOME!

Friday 11th April 2014 - Vin Garbutt

Vin Garbutt

A much-loved National Treasure, Teeside-born VIN is that rare thing - an entertainer of the highest order who can get a message across. A one-man wild-haired minstrel with a unique guitar and singing style and tin whistler extraordinaire, he is one of the best live performers around, spinning hilarious yarns that are so far-fetched you actually believe them! And the songs (when he finally gets to them) - of love, hope, social issues and daft things - stir, shake, tickle, enlighten, provoke, sadden and always hit the spot. Vin is a true star but with his feet very firmly on the ground - a living legend who is the true embodiment of the UK folk scene.

Friday 18th April 2014 - CLOSED - GOOD FRIDAY

Friday 25th April 2014 - Mairearad Green & Anna Massie

Mairearad Green & Anna Massie

An eagerly-awaited Ram debut from this fabulous young duo! Two of Scotland's finest award-winning multi-instrumentalists, MAIREARAD (accordion and small pipes) and ANNA (guitar, banjo, fiddle) are truly captivating, providing a highly energetic performance with an instantly warm and friendly stage presence. Having played alongside each other for over ten years, they are so in tune with each other's playing it's almost telepathic. Now based in Glasgow, Mairearad and Anna both grew up in the Scottish Highlands amidst very similar musical backgrounds (most notably, mandolin playing Dads!), and so share an innate understanding of Scottish culture and music. They have enjoyed many successes and count KT Tunstall among their many fans, gaining a huge reputation for their live performances. Their two albums - 2009's debut Mairearad and Anna, and 2013's Doubling - have both met with wide critical acclaim. They also perform individually with The Poozies, Blazin' Fiddles, Bella Hardy and Box Club and together in Scotland's only Celtic Big Band, The Unusual Suspects. The sum of the parts is enough but these two are much more than that - trust us!
