Friday 5th February 2010 - Martin Carthy MBE (replaces Dave Swarbrick)

Martin Carthy MBE (replaces Dave Swarbrick)

Martin is Folk's reluctant godfather and a storyteller supreme. Multi-award winning and honoured for his services to Folk music, his guitar and singing style are instantly recognisable and unique. He has featured on countless classic recordings, both his own and by a 'Who's Who' of the Folk Scene. From the beginning of the Folk Revival right up to the present he continues to innovate, experiment, tour and record. An enormously- influential figure in English folk music Martin has always maintained a solo career in parallel to collaborations with Dave Swarbrick, Steeleye Span, Brass Monkey, Blue Murder, Waterson-Carthy, the Four Martins and now the Imagined Village. He gave Scarborough Fair to Paul Simon, but he's still Carthy after all these years!

Tom McConville, David Newey, Phil Murray, Andy Watt & Shona Kipling

Continuing our own mini Feast of Fiddles we present a new Supergroup with some familiar faces. TOM is a Ram favourite and brings a different line up each time he comes! At long last his immense talent as a fiddler was recognized in 2009 when he picked up 'Musician of the Year' at the BBC Folk Awards. A wonderful singer too, he has played with just about everyone, with Seth Lakeman naming him as his biggest influence. And now he has assembled a superb group, with Young Tradition 2003 finalist DAVID (guitar, vocals), PHIL (acoustic bass), ANDY (guitar & mandolin) and multi-award winning SHONA (accordion). With Tom's sweet tone embellished by such talent we are in for an evening of the finest traditional and contemporary folk.

Friday 19th February 2010 - Pete Morton

Pete Morton

PETE is a passionate, intense performer with a driving guitar style & a great stage presence who, for the last couple of decades, has been busy putting back the 'F' in Folk. Carrying on the true tradition of an urban songwriter, he is always 'on the road' and has delivered a wealth of great songs that are an unruly mix of humour, politics, love and social comment. A Ram favourite, Pete sings from the heart and his song 'Another train' is popular with choirs and artists around the world and has brought hope and encouragement to countless listeners over the years. His new CD 'Casa Abierta' marks a radical departure, featuring ten songs in different tongues including Spanish, Swahili, Welsh, Kurdish, Korean and French. And it's great!
