For our 30th birthday on 21st October 2013 we updated our 'Compleat History of the Ram Club' booklet (PDF format, 10Mb). Click to view or download - it's a 'must read', with a list of all the guests we have ever had plus some stories and pictures!
Below is a list of the past guests from September 2006.
With a terrific back catalogue of songs to draw on and a truly endearing working relationship, Dave and Boo promise a warm evening of gorgeous melodies, intelligent lyrics and wry humour. Dave has an interesting collection of instruments, including acoustic, hollow-bodied and electric guitars, plus mandolin and banjo (which ones will he bring on the night?) and is a master of them all. Boo plays subtle acoustic and electric bass, as well as guitar, and her warm, mellow and engaging voice adds charm to whichever genre (folk, blues, bluegrass) the duo choose to embrace.

Brooks is a genuinely top class act with a voice that has "star quality" stamped all over it - he has all the note-perfect security and appealing swing of Michael Buble but with added grit. And Brooks plays guitar with enviable skill at the same time. He is an inspiring singer-songwriter, a smart selector of other people's tunes and has released nearly 20 albums. Last seen at the Ram Club playing with Boo Hewerdine as State of the Union, he will offer the club another scintillating solo set of rootsy Americana folk and blues.

Expect sublime story-telling through song from this quietly spoken, unassuming Irishman. He writes movingly about the deadly serious - "The Broken Years" about The Troubles in Ulster and "The Only Life Gloria Knows" about homelessness - and whimsically about a bizarre night out in "Tuesday Night Is Always Karaoke". An acute observer and a self-confessed "apprentice for life", he has learned the art of communicating intimately with an audience and will doubtless invite everyone to sing a catchy chorus or two.

Benny has been responsible for some of the finest songs written in the past 40 years or so. From his work with Graham Lyle come such hits as "Breakaway", "Heart On My Sleeve" and "I Wanna Stay With You", and the classics just keep on coming in his solo writing to the present day. Whether playing guitar or seated at the piano, Benny's singing voice is full of character and there will be anecdotes and banter aplenty between songs. A good friend of the Ram Club and always assured of a very warm welcome.
