Friday 4th October 2013 - Brian Peters & Jeff Davis

Brian Peters & Jeff Davis

BRIAN is a highly-respected singer and multi-instrumentalist, renowned as one of England's leading exponents of the anglo concertina, melodeon and guitar. Another Ram regular, this is a debut for his duo with US-based Old Time music specialist JEFF. Brian is a mainstay of the UK folk scene and tours regularly in America, Europe and Australia. While deeply committed to the musical traditions of his native country he's no musical snob and is well known for daring forays into ragtime, blues and rock'n'roll on his squeezeboxes. Jeff is one of those musicians who makes it all look easy. An outstanding performer of the American folk revival he plays superb and effortless old-time fiddle, banjo, guitar, mandolin and mandocello. His singing and lived-in voice is truly timeless, conjuring up vividly the world of the cowboy or the Civil War soldier. Expect a treasure trove of songs & tunes from both sides of the Atlantic.

Friday 11th October 2013 - Winter Wilson

Winter Wilson

KIP WINTER'S voice is simply one of the best in the business, delivering power and emotion in equal measure from melting to belting! DAVE WILSON is recognised as one of the best songwriters in the biz, with his songs covered by some of folk's greats including Vin Garbutt. He's a pretty ace guitarist too! Kip & Dave joined forces in 1995 and have steadily built a reputation for their engaging live performances and their highly-original, quirky and sometimes sad songs concerning all aspects of the human condition and beyond. They harmonise and blend beautifully in their distinctive folky/bluesy-tinged style, and with 6 critically-acclaimed albums to their name, are well-known across the UK acoustic scene. Great songs, beautifully sung and fine banter.

Friday 18th October 2013 - Paul Millns

Paul Millns

An established Ram favourite, PAUL is one of the UK's best contemporary singer songwriters and it's a mystery to us why he's never made it huge. Good for us though, because it means we can still book him! A passionate and soulful singer and pianist, he started his career playing piano and keyboards for blues and soul bands - music which was to influence his own singing and composing. In the mid 60's he came to London, joining a succession of bands and touring the world with Alexis Korner, Eric Burdon, Dr Hook's Dennis Locorriere, Bert Jansch and Jo Ann Kelly. His own songs have been covered by Elkie Brooks & Bonnie Tyler to name a few, and he's also co-written songs with friend Benny Gallagher. Paul's new double 'Live' album, recorded with a band in Geneva, is bursting with classic songs and you can expect a beautifully-condensed version tonight!

Friday 25th October 2013 - Peter Knight's Gigspanner

Peter Knight's Gigspanner

This will be our 30TH ANNIVERSARY so expect a few treats and surprises in the usual Ram tradition!

PETER plays fiddle in Steeleye Span, but his sublime style extends well beyond the boundaries of Folk and Folk/Rock. He formed Gigspanner a few years ago to explore the many areas of music and song that interest him - folk, classical, jazz, blues, world and more. With two excellent musicians, ROGER FLACK (guitar) and VINCENT SALZFAAS (African percussion) the trio creates a unique sound and it's great to have them back for this very special night. (* Tickets available in advance from Sept 27th)
