Friday 5th October 2012 - Benny Gallagher with Bob Wood

Benny Gallagher with Bob Wood

Right from his early days at the Beatles' Apple label (where he teamed up with Graham Lyle and wrote hits for Mary Hopkin among others) the sheer quality of BENNY's songs has shone through; When I'm Dead and Gone, Breakaway, Stay Young, I Wanna Stay With You, Heart in New York and Heart on My Sleeve were huge hits for Art Garfunkel, Garth Brooks, the Fureys, Bryan Ferry and many more, as well as for themselves. He has worked with everyone from Paul McCartney to Eric Clapton, and continues to write and tour. In 2008 he released his first CD of new songs in 14 years, the splendid CD 'At The Edge of a Wave'. Benny recently completed a sell-out reunion tour with Gallagher & Lyle and is currently working on a special musical project with Graham. Tonight he will be assisted as ever by our very own Mr. Wood, his touring guitarist of choice and perfect picker to boot, and you can expect a generous helping of all those classics and some great new songs too!

Friday 12th October 2012 - Anthony John Clarke

Anthony John Clarke

It's great to have ANTHONY back for another evening of beautiful, wistful songs of love, life's journey, and the humour and madness of everyday situations which he dissects from real life into music with such precision. His new CD 'Laughing With Clowns' sums him up! Belfast-born, he's been writing songs since the age of 9 and he sings them with genuine warmth and sincerity. Some are tender and poignant, like 'Irish Eyes' and 'Seven in Ireland'. Others are hilarious, and an evening with Anthony is funny, challenging, entertaining and warm glow-inducing. Popular all over, he sings it like it is - just the tonic you know you need!

Friday 19th October 2012 - Rab Noakes

Rab Noakes

A long-overdue return by this founder member of Stealers Wheel (along with Gerry Rafferty), RAB is a unique musical person. As a songwriter he has been covered by Lindisfarne, Archie Fisher & Barbara Dickson among many. Over the years he has released a stream of CDs, with off-shoot bands including the amazing Varaflames featuring Jerry Donahue and Pick Withers. He has been produced several high-profile TV musical dramas, many CDs (including The Proclaimers and Karine Polwart's 'Faultlines') and in January he organised, hosted and performed in a tribute concert to his late friend Gerry with a host of stars.

Friday 26th October 2012 - Kirsty McGee

Kirsty McGee

KIRSTY is no stranger to the Ram, having performed here several times in duos and bands. A refreshingly unique singer songwriter, her songs can be fragile, funny, dark, light, wacky and weird but always beautiful, with a strong hint of truth and a large pinch of personal experience. These songs - born from her own-made guitars and occasional collaborations with the likes of Boo Hewerdine - have gently forced themselves into the Folk consciousness and even floated out from mainstream radio to lodge themselves in your brain. Kirsty has been quietly busy recording her new CD 'Contraband', due out in time for the gig, which promises to be another gem. Tonight she will be accompanied by BECCA WILLIAMS, a superb singer/songwriter in her own right and a hoot to boot! They complement each other perfectly, and Becca will be singing a few of her own songs too. Instrumentally, expect guitars, flute, glockenspiel and even the musical saw! Well, Kirsty is a woodworker so it's only natural. A splendid night of musical joinery is in store.
