Friday 5th September 2014 - Boo Hewerdine

Boo Hewerdine

BOO is a Ram favourite. We were the club where he made his performing comeback in 2001 and he loves coming back! His wonderful album 'A Live One' was recorded at that very gig in the old venue, and afterwards he proclaimed himself "re-energised, a very happy man". He's toured and recorded to great acclaim ever since. For those who are new to Boo, he used to be the front man of 80s Rock group THE BIBLE and has had a parallel career as a top producer with the likes of EDDI READER and THE CORRS, a songwriter for many and a sideman and session musician to the great and good. Those gorgeous, melodic, memorable, thoughtful and highly nickable songs just keep coming and he spreads them far and wide among the grateful doyens of Folk and Rock. On his album Harmonograph, he tried and failed to condense over 400 songs he'd written for others into an album's worth so he just did the ones he fancied. And it's brilliant! Welcome home Boo.

Friday 12th September 2014 - Colum Sands

Colum Sands

From County Down, Northern Ireland it is a pleasure to welcome back COLUM. He has that rare gift of empathy which makes it seem you've been friends for ever, filling the room with warmth, humour and good will. He is a great songwriter and performer whose songs can be sweet, sad or inspirational, sometimes giving you a gentle prod to think about things. Like the rest of his Sands siblings, Colum is a peacemaker and conciliator, believing that music is a uniting force. And with many a yarn to share with a twinkle in his eyes, one thing is for certain - you'll leave much happier than you came, probably with a copy of one of his many CDs!

Friday 19th September 2014 - Jenkins' Ear

Jenkins' Ear

The Magnificent Five return once more for another night of rampage, pillage and spillage. IAN PALMER, ROB McGHEE, PETE PURSLOW, STEVE LE TISSIER & DAVE JOLLY named the group after a pointless war with the Spanish over a severed ear. Having met at sea in the days when press-ganging was still legal, they sing what they know about - well-known and rousing shanties, songs from Cyril Tawney, newer ones like The Last Trawl, sad ones and some originals. Be it off their own heads or with instruments, they are oft to be heard serenading at seafaring festivals or over the side. And now they have plundered yet more songs from the bounding main to create a shimmering new CD, available in return for gold or grog. Nautical but nice!

Friday 26th September 2014 - Kieran Goss

Kieran Goss

KIERAN is rightly recognised as one of Ireland's top contemporary songwriters and performers who is never off the radio back home. He's had hit singles and his songs have been covered far and wide (two were on Mary Black's 'Babes in the Wood' album). Born and raised in County Down, Northern Ireland he grew up in a big family listening to Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson, Sinatra and the Stones to name a few - artists that influenced his own unique sound. He has a huge fan base on the continent and here. Why? Because he writes the most beautifully-crafted, melodic, touching, uplifting, pertinent songs and performs them exquisitely. His latest album, 2009's 'I'll Be Seeing You' displays a remarkably-reflective maturity born of tragic, sad events in his personal life at the time. Songs of loss but ultimately of hope, his spirit shines through on every track. 'Live' he has that rare ability to connect to an audience and light up the room. Back by demand!
