Friday 5th December 2008 - The Amazing Mr Smith

The Amazing Mr Smith

THE AMAZING MR.SMITH has been described as Monty Python's answer to John Williams! His combination of mad inventions and brilliant acoustic guitar playing make him one of the funniest & most original entertainers around. The cardboard tube double bass, the musical shoelaces, the nutcracker played on the tu-tu xylophone, the Blue Danube on the condom harp and his 3-minute rendition of Riverdance have to be seen to be believed. As well as being on the comedy circuit for at least 10 years, he has made people cry with laughter (although he doesn't see what's so funny) in every conceivable type of venue in the UK, performed on local and national TV and toured the USA five times as well as Europe and any far-flung country that won't throw him in jail. Absolutely bonkers, but his country needs him as much as 'five a day'. The acceptable face of 'The Lunatic on the Bus'!

Friday 12th December 2008 - Allan Taylor

Allan Taylor

ALLAN is the consummate performer, a writer of literary gracefulness whose troubadour chronicles encapsulate the realism of otherwise unsung heroes, otherwise uncharted lives. His songs are written from a lifetime of travelling; always the observer passing through, each song is a vignette of life. Like a story told over a drink in a bar, the characters come to life like people you know and places become as familiar as if you had been there. His songs have been recorded by more than a hundred other performers of various nationalities (there are more than sixty cover versions of his song 'It's Good to See You', in ten different languages), proof enough that every concert by Allan Taylor will be an experience to remember.

Friday 19th December 2008 - Omega 3

Omega 3

PLEASE NOTE:- this will be a ticket-only event. Tickets will go on sale from 21st November at the club.

CLIVE HARVEY and DEREK PEARCE, founder members of the long defunct, sadly missed, almost legendary ROARING JELLY, are back! Refurbished, revitalised and newly-fortified by vitamins, glucosamine, fish oils, prescriptions and all the other remedies associated with a well-lived life, they now have a new wonder ingredient - guitar ace GRAEME TAYLOR! OMEGA 3 are arguably the foremost purveyors of English Eccentric Humour in Song - clever, very English, very funny and very catchy. Follow the fortunes of the merry minstrels as once again they set about fearlessly flinging the absurdities of the world back in its face. Marvel at their merry melodies. Revel in their irreverence. Gasp in disbelief and then gurgle with guilty pleasure as they slaughter sacred cows for the sake of a cheap gag. Enjoy. Go on, you know you want to!
