New Venue

Excellent news - the Ram Folk Club has found a fantastic new venue! Our final night at the Foley Arms will be the Christmas Special on December 19th with the uplifting, mad and hilarious Omega 3. From January 2009 our new home will be the function room at the Old Cranleighan Club in Thames Ditton, a stone's throw from the Scilly Isles roundabouts, almost within shouting distance of the Foley and not far from where it all started at the Greyhound in Weston Green.

We are very excited by the new venue and believe it will allow us to become even better, but the essence of the club - a friendly, intimate atmosphere, great acoustic music and a supportive network of helpers and resident performers - will continue as ever.

Within a wood-clad colonial-style Edwardian building at the Old Cranleighan sports club in Thames Ditton, the new room is larger than the current one, with comfortable seating for well over 100. So we can say goodbye to the days of too few chairs or, worse still, having to turn people away with the House Full sign. The room has great acoustics, oodles of character, a gallery at either end, beams and a fireplace. And of course on Fridays it will become 'The Ram Club'!

The spacious and well-stocked bar is adjacent to the club room. Perhaps we could therefore encourage you to take full advantage of drinks (including real ale and wines) which are available to us at CLUB PRICES - because part of the deal we have been able to strike with the Old Cranleighan is based, of course, on the new business which it is anticipated we can bring to the club. On Friday nights we’ll have exclusive use of the venue, and hopefully it will be possible to pre-order interval drinks to avoid the usual rush!

The Old Cranleighan has several other advantages for the Ram Club over our current venue

So, following a period of much uncertainty, we are very excited about our future and hope you will continue to support us as often as possible at our great new venue. The world may be in for tough times but music is a medicine and we aim to keep your regular Friday dose as affordable and therapeutic as possible! As ever, we rely on your fantastic and loyal support to keep going, so put all those 'can't misses' on your calendar now. And do please keep spreading the word about the great live music that we put on.

It's not been easy finding a suitable new venue, and we must thank you all for so many suggestions, especially Foley regular Simon Laws who pointed us towards this place.

And if you are looking for a venue for a special occasion or function, the managers Ed and Alison Breton would be very happy to discuss it with you. Call them on 0208 398 3092 or email ed@bretonfitness.co.uk

We think it’s all going to be great, so on December 19th it's 'Farewell to the Foley' and on January 9th 2009 it's 'Welcome to the Old Cranleighan!'

See the about us page for more details and directions to the club.
