The Ram Club is looking for a new home!

Sad but true, our long and happy association with the Foley Arms in Claygate is coming to an end, possibly as soon as the end of 2008.

The brewery, Youngs, have plans for the pub which do not include us or a function room at all so, sadly, we have to find a new venue (click here for a letter from Youngs explaining their position). The search has already begun but CAN YOU HELP? Do you know of a venue which would like to host the 2007 BBC 'FOLK CLUB OF THE YEAR', with a regular audience of 60-100 folk aficionados who also like to buy drink and quite often have a meal? Ideally, the venue needs to be in roughly the same area so that we keep our clientele and don't impinge on other clubs. It must be licensed for music and drink, and in a separate room from the main bar. Ample car parking is important, as well as links to public transport and secure storage space for our PA. Disabled access would be an advantage. We already have gigs booked well into 2009, so any new home would therefore have to be able to commit to us on a weekly basis from the outset.

Our selling point to any landlord or licensee is that our membership list is 500+ and we have excellent contacts with the local press and other media, which not only pulls in good audiences but raises the profile of the venue too.

We are already looking at possible pubs, though it is impossible for us to check them all. Is your local suitable? We would also consider any sort of venue that might work, like a hall, theatre, bar, social club etc, as long as it has some sort of atmosphere. If you're not sure whether your venue is suitable, please tell us anyway.

If you know of anywhere you think may be suitable, please email Bob and Maggie Wood at ramclub@btinternet.com or phone them on 0208 686 9421.

Please have a think to avoid the unthinkable - no Ram Club!

If all else fails, does anyone have a couple of million quid spare so we can make an offer for the pub?

Thank you
